Abstract	This work presents a modified version of Multi-Geo, an adaptive hybrid protocol for Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) whose behavior is based on the network traffic in a given time. It is set to a reactive behavior when the frequency of events is low or it is set to pro-active behavior when the frequency of events increases. The main difference between the new version of the protocol and the old one is the use of different cluster sizes according to the number of nodes, thus, the size of the clusters is inversely proportional to the number of nodes in the area. Other differences are the range limitation of broadcasts inside a cluster and the election of a new clusterhead when the current one fails. The goal of this protocol is to reduce the number of control and data messages in the network, which are the main responsible for the energy consumption. In addition, it preserves the scheme of multi-hop sending that is another effective strategy for the economy in energy consumption of the network. The figures presented at the end of this paper show that this protocol obtained a reduction of energy consumption in comparison to its earlier versions, maintaining the delivery rate of data packets.
