| Abstract | It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the $7^{th}$ ACM SIG-Information Technology Education Conference -- SIGITE 2006. This year's conference continues its tradition of being the premier forum for presentation of research results and classroom experience regarding the pillars of information technology education: programming, networking, web technologies, resource management and human-computer interaction. Our mission is to share novel, practical and generally applicable pedagogical approaches to all topics in IT education, demonstrate effective bridges between academia and industry, and provide an environment conducive to peer discussion, student engagement and inter-institutional cooperation. We believe you will see our theme for this year "IT Education -- The Engine of Innovation" exhibited throughout the conference events. The call for papers attracted 36 full-paper submissions from Asia, Europe, and the United States. The program committee accepted 25 papers and 12 posters that cover a variety of topics, including general IT Education as well as online education issues, IT Curriculum Development, as well as two new tracks: Research/Case Studies in IT and Tools/Systems Development. In addition, the program includes special sessions on ethical issues in the IT curriculum presented by SIGCAS (Special Interest Group on Computers and Society), a session devoted to exploring concerns around the involvement of women in IT and IT education -- in a fish bowl format, a special introduction to the Computer Science and Teaching Association (CSTA), presentations by our vendors and sponsors highlighting opportunities for creating custom textbooks (SafariU) and engaging in the Sun Academic Initiative. Capella University will also provide special sessions as a window into its totally online educational venue. We have two keynote speakers this year. The keynote speech by Michael Vinje will expound on the conference theme through highlighting the urgent needs of industry relevant to IT education. Our second keynote speaker, Dr. Eli Cohen, will discuss the resources used by education to teach IT and how educators can support each other through developing these resources. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
