Abstract	Ubiquitous computing environments involve multifarious devices and human beings, each with different capabilities. In this scenario, middleware systems play a crucial role, allowing the efficient coordination of all the interacting entities and providing the services necessary to support ubiquitous applications. In this paper we propose an architecture (DESIA), which allows the manipulation of context-aware data collected from sensors and mobile devices, with special concerns about privacy and security. It consists of three layers (personal, ambient and cloud) with a communication infrastructure permeating all of them.
