Abstract It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 1st ACM Workshop on Mobile Video -- MV'07 which is held in conjunction with ACM Multimedia 2007 in the beautiful city of Augsburg. The intention of this workshop is to establish a premium forum for presentation of research results and experience reports on leading edge issues of mobile video. Mobile video is one of the key technologies pushing the development and usage of current and future wireless networks. With applications as diverse as conversational services, mobile TV and video-on-demand, video gaming, and surveillance, mobile video is a major research and business opportunity with great potential to enrich society and to support the needs of our increasingly mobile daily life. The call for papers attracted 14 submissions from experts around the world. The program committee accepted 8 papers that cover a variety of topics including error resilient video transmission, scalable video and rate adaptation, as well as application and system related issues. In addition, the program includes a special session consisting of invited papers that present the industry's perspective on mobile video with contributions from Ericsson, Nokia, and Nomor Research. The sessions of the workshop are framed by keynote speeches delivered by internationally renowned experts on mobile video. We are very happy that the following three outstanding colleagues have accepted our invitation to present keynote speeches: Minoru Etoh, Ph.D., Deputy Managing Director, NTT DoCoMo Research Laboratories, Japan Susie Wee, Ph.D., Director, Mobile & Media Systems Lab, HP Labs, USA Thomas Wiegand, Dr.-Ing., Head, Image Communication Group, Heinrich-Hertz-Institut, Berlin, Germany.

About National Digital Library of India (NDLI)
NDLI logo

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
