| Abstract | ScenGen (FLIGHT MISSION ScenARIO GenERATOR) is a prototype knowledge based system being developed at Boeing for the Flight Crew Operations Requirements Group. The main objective of ScenGen is to provide a system which utilizes the tools and problem solving heuristics employed by the Flight Deck Engineers in developing Flight Mission Scenarios.A Flight Mission Scenario describes the flight crew activity associated with flying a route. The set of flight procedures to be accomplished and the time available for performance are dictated by the Flight Scenario. The creation of a scenario is based upon data derived from mission flight plans, flight maps, approach and landing charts, Air Traffic Control (ATC) operational data, airplane performance data, and airplane operations manuals. Using this knowledge, detailed procedures are developed to successfully complete a mission. These procedures establish the basic work units from which all work load statistics are derived.As a part of the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) certification process, it is necessary to establish the minimum crew required for safe operation of an airplane. Crew size certification involves a complete flight deck design evaluation. The evaluation includes analytical workload analysis of each individual crew member Development of flight mission scenario is the first step in the analytical workload analysis of the crew.This paper describes why and how ScenGen was developed, the problems encountered, and its current status as well as future directions. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
