| Abstract | Welcome to PCGames 2011, the Second International Workshop on Procedural Content Generation in Games, held June 28, 2011 and co-located with the 2011 Foundations of Digital Games conference. Procedural content generation (PCG), where a computer algorithm produces computationally generated levels, art assets, quests, background history, stories, characters, and weapons, offers hope for substantially reducing the authoring burden in games. There are also many potential benefits to PCG, beyond reducing authoring costs. The generation algorithm itself acts as an executable model of the generated aspect of the game, thereby improving our theoretical understanding of game design. With rich procedural generation, a single person becomes capable of creating games that once required entire teams to create, thus making individual artistic expression easier to achieve. Automated content generation can take player history as an input, and thereby create games that adapt to individual players. PCG has the potential to enable entirely new kinds of games and playable experiences that have previously been impossible to create due to human authoring limitations. This workshop has 5 full papers and 4 short papers discussing different aspects of PCG, from questioning the nature of PCG itself to specific content generation techniques. Papers will be presented at the workshop and appear in these proceedings. Each paper received three reviews and the final acceptance decisions were ratified by Gillian Smith, who acted in the role of Program Chair. The overall acceptance rate was 90%. The primary goal of this workshop is to foster discussion on all aspects of procedural content generation, and strengthen the community of procedural content generation researchers. National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
