| Abstract | It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 2013 ACM Workshop on Hot Topics on Wireless Network Security and Privacy -- HotWiSec'13. This year's workshop, which is co-located with the ACM Conference on Security and Privacy in Wireless and Mobile Networks (WiSec'13), will provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to discuss exciting new directions or out-of-thebox, disruptive or controversial ideas on the exploitation and protection of wireless communications and systems. The goal of HotWiSec is to provide a suitable venue for discussing ideas in their infancy, as opposed to fully mature ideas and results, so as to initiate a lively discussion on the topic and to provide early, useful feedback to the authors. Based on the feedback from this workshop, authors can decide to mature their work and consider submitting it to future ACM WiSec conferences; HotWiSec will act as an incubator for future WiSec papers. This year's workshop will feature an exciting program of 8 five-page papers, of which, 5 were selected after an extensive peer-review process by the HotWiSec 2013 Program Committee and the remaining 3 were invited based on the reviews from the main conference. The workshop program includes papers covering security and privacy issues in a variety of wireless networking systems, including Wireless Sensor Networks, Wireless Ad hoc Networks, Wireless Body Area Networks, Vehicular Networks, Advanced Metering Infrastructure and Web of Things. We hope that the presentations would evoke interesting and thought-provoking discussions on these topics, provide valuable insights to the authors on further maturing their research results and serve as a motivational platform for security researchers working on similar topics. |
