| Abstract | It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 3rd ACM SIGMM International Workshop on Social Media -- WSM'11. Since the first workshop in 2009, WSM has become an annual forum for the presentation of research results and experience reports on cutting-edge issues of social media research, including models, systems, applications, and theory. The mission of this workshop is to give researchers and practitioners a unique opportunity to share their novel ideas, methods and techniques that address the emerging challenges of social media research, and to identify new directions for future research and development. The call for papers this year attracted 22 submissions from Europe, Asia, and the United States. Among them, the program committee accepted 10 papers which cover a variety of topics, such as social media content analysis, event identification, collaborative photo sharing, social video concept detection, tag suggestion, location analysis, map discovery from social photos, display of social live streams, social media recommendation, and so on. In addition, the program this year includes two keynotes by researchers from both academia and industry, including "Mining Social Media - Issues and Challenges" by Prof. Huan Liu from Arizona State University, and "Largescale Social Media Analysis in Facebook" by Dr Rong Yan from Facebook Inc. We hope that these proceedings will serve as a valuable reference for social media researchers and developers. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
