Abstract	Within the context of a university computing center, user and uses of SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) have been investigated. Several methods of data collection are discussed and results are presented. Besides a general user survey and general accounting data, a statistical software logfile proved to be an elegant and powerful method to obtain information on the basis of individual runs.
