| Abstract | Just about a year ago, John Impagliazzo asked if I'd be willing to form a task group to put together a report on the future of this magazine. I suspect he asked me for a couple of reasons. First, because I've been involved with Inroads for several years in a variety of capacities. Second, because I'm ridiculously organized. Third, because I'm a sucker for interesting assignments. Fourth, because I'm rather fond of Inroads. Fifth, because I'm a sucker for interesting assignments. What a wonderful group of people to work with. Mikey, Fran, Beth, Joe and I met every other week via Skype for half a year. John joined us when he was able. We formulated our recommendations, reformulated them, reformulated them some more, sent them out for feedback to the Associate Editors and the Editorial Advisory Board, revised them some more. Even though we never met in person, and in some cases had never met in person, everyone got along swimmingly; even when there were tough questions to address and differences of opinion. And get this: they wanted to keep on meeting even when we had completed our task! At one point, I received a plaintive email from John asking me if I could please offcially declare the task group: Dismissed. Sigh… (So we gathered at SIGCSE for a social hour and found out what we really looked like.) If you are a reviewer for the magazine, you will no doubt have seen the new reviewer scorecard. The task group developed this scorecard to help you, and to help authors, have a better understanding of what sort of material Inroads is looking for. Still in pilot phase, we are working out the kinks but we sincerely hope it is helpful. If you have comments about the scorecard or any other part of the recommendations (which follow below) please let one of us know. That would provide us a reason to hold another Skype call. National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

NDLI is a conglomeration of freely available or institutionally contributed or donated or publisher managed contents. Almost all these contents are hosted and accessed from respective sources. The responsibility for authenticity, relevance, completeness, accuracy, reliability and suitability of these contents rests with the respective organization and NDLI has no responsibility or liability for these. Every effort is made to keep the NDLI portal up and running smoothly unless there are some unavoidable technical issues.
Ministry of Education, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT), has sponsored and funded the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) project.
