| Claim | A method of controlling radio transmissions, the method comprising: determining a signal quality associated with radio transmissions from a first device (100) to a second device (10); determining an uncertainty of the determined signal quality; and depending on the determined signal quality and uncertainty, adapting a beamforming configuration applied by the first device (100) for performing the radio transmissions to the second device (10), wherein the beamforming configuration defines a set of one or more of beams (21, 22, 23, 24, 25) generated by transmit diversity operation of multiple antennas, and characterized in that the beamforming configuration is adapted by setting, depending on the determined uncertainty, a number of the beams (21, 22, 23, 24, 25). The method according to claim 1, comprising: determining the signal quality and the uncertainty for each of the beams (21, 22, 23, 24, 25). The method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the beamforming configuration is adapted by setting, depending on the determined uncertainty, a transmit power assigned to each of the beams (21, 22, 23, 24, 25). The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the beamforming configuration is adapted by setting, depending on the determined uncertainty, a coding scheme assigned to each of the beams (21, 22, 23, 24, 25). The method according to any one of the preceding claims, comprising: in response to an increase of the determined uncertainty, increasing the number of the beams (21, 22, 23, 24, 25); and/or in response to a decrease of the determined uncertainty, decreasing the number of the beams (21, 22, 23, 24, 25). The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the beamforming configuration is adapted by setting, depending on the determined signal quality, a direction of the beams (21, 22, 23, 24, 25). The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the signal quality and the uncertainty are determined on the basis of reports (40) provided by the second device (10). The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the uncertainty is determined on the basis of an autocorrelation of multiple measurements of the signal quality. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the uncertainty is determined depending on movement of the second device (10) with respect to the first device (10). The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the uncertainty is determined depending on a time interval which has elapsed from a last measurement of the signal quality. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the first device (100) is a base station of a cellular network and the second device (10) is a communication device connected to the cellular network. A device (100, 100'), the device (100, 100') being configured to: - determine a signal quality associated with radio transmissions from a first device (100) to a second device (10); - determine an uncertainty of the determined signal quality; and - depending on the determined signal quality and uncertainty, adapt a beamforming configuration applied by the first device (100) for performing the radio transmissions to the second device (10), wherein the beamforming configuration defines a set of one or more of beams (21, 22, 23, 24, 25) generated by transmit diversity operation of multiple antennas, and characterized in that the device (100, 100') is configured to adapt the beamforming configuration by setting, depending on the determined uncertainty, a number of the beams (21, 22, 23, 24, 25). The device (100, 100') according to claim 12, wherein the device (100, 100') is configured to perform the steps of a method according to any one of claims 2 to 11. A computer program comprising program code to be executed by at least one processor (850, 950) of a device (100, 100') configured to control radio transmissions from a first device (100) to a second device (10), wherein execution of the program code causes the device (100, 100') to perform the steps of a method according to any one of claims 1 to 11. |
