Description | The Semi-Weekly Windham County Reformer, established in 1897 by Charles N. Davenport, was a staunch Democratic publication in Vermont. It advocated for administrative reforms and equal taxation while denouncing corruption and favoritism. Under Davenport's son, Charles H., the paper featured extensive political content and editorial commentary, often critiquing both Republican and Democratic parties. Jacob G. Ullery's acquisition in 1901 modernized operations, but the paper's Tuesday edition soon ceased due to advertising challenges. Ephraim H. Crane's ownership in 1903 marked a shift away from Democratic support. Renamed the Brattleboro Reformer in 1907, it eventually merged with the Vermont Phoenix in 1955, evolving into the Brattleboro Reformer in 1973. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1901 of this newspaper. |
