Description | The Fairbanks Herald emerged as a voice of its community on July 4, 1915, under the stewardship of an unnamed editor. While Andrew Knowles was later associated with the paper, its editorial stance diverged significantly from his earlier work with The Alaska Socialist. Published by the Herald Publishing Co., this independent weekly primarily covered local news, from social gatherings to legal affairs and mining activities. Although it refrained from taking strong political stances, it provided glimpses into state and national politics. Despite initial plans to expand, it remained a four-column weekly until its last known issue on August 8, 1915, leaving behind a snapshot of Fairbanks's life and times. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1915 of this newspaper. |
