Description | Established by the Buck Brothers in 1894, the Winslow Mail passed through various hands until the Giragi brothers, Carmel and Columbus, took the reins in 1926. Their tenure saw significant advancements, transforming it into the Winslow Daily Mail, the sole daily paper in northern Arizona by 1926. With Columbus as editor and Carmel as business manager, they modernized operations, introducing linotype technology and expanding the publication's reach. Despite facing tragedy with Carmel's untimely death and George's passing, the Giragi family sustained the paper's legacy until 1945. Under J. Morris Richards, it reverted to a weekly before ceasing publication in 2007, marking the end of an era after 113 years. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1926 of this newspaper. |
