Description | The Cochise Review and Arizona Daily Orb, originally known as the Weekly Orb, began its journey in 1896 as an independent paper. Over time, it underwent several name changes and political transitions before settling as the Cochise Review and Arizona Daily Orb in May 1900. Despite further variations in its masthead, it eventually became the Bisbee Daily Review under the ownership of William Kelly in November 1901. The paper thrived as a source of mining news and played a significant role in the southeastern mining districts of Arizona. However, its ownership eventually fell under the influence of the Phelps-Dodge Corporation, aligning its editorial direction with the corporation's interests. The Bisbee Daily Review ceased daily publication in 1971, transitioning back to a weekly under new ownership. After subsequent mergers and changes, it split into two publications: the Sierra Vista Herald [and] Bisbee Daily Review and the Bisbee Daily Review [and] Sierra Vista Herald, both still active today. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1900 of this newspaper. |
