Description | The Evening Republican (Wilmington, Del.) 1902-1902, a short-lived iteration of a longer-standing newspaper, emerged from the consolidation of several predecessors. Established by Henry Cannon in 1841, it evolved through various ownerships, including that of George Vernon. Transitioning from weekly to daily publication in 1874, it briefly adopted the title the Evening Republican in 1902. However, it reverted to the name Daily Republican shortly thereafter. Following George Vernon's death, ownership transferred to his sons, but internal conflicts led to the company's dissolution in 1905. Ultimately, the Daily Republican merged with the Evening Journal, marking the end of its independent existence. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1902 of this newspaper. |
