Description | The Kennewick Courier-Reporter and the White Bluffs Spokesman, published in Kennewick, Wash., in 1938, emerged from a rich journalistic history. Originating with Elwyn P. "Pea" Greene's Columbia Courier in 1902, the paper fostered Kennewick's growth by promoting commerce. Ownership changed hands several times, with William J. Shaughnessy introducing a miniature daily edition in 1904. After Kennewick's incorporation in 1904, the paper evolved into The Kennewick Courier under Lauren W. Soth's leadership. Despite challenges, including competition, the paper persisted, eventually merging with the Kennewick Reporter in 1914 to become The Kennewick Courier-Reporter, a testament to its enduring role in the community. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1938 of this newspaper. |
