Description | The Holmes County Times, published in Lexington, Mississippi, in 1906, was a short-lived newspaper that played a role in the local media landscape of Holmes County. It was established by Cass Oltenburg and Roland Austin Povall, former editors and owners of the Lexington Advertiser. The Holmes County Times aimed to provide local news coverage for Lexington and nearby communities like Durant, Tchula, and Shaddon. However, on November 22, 1906, a fire destroyed the newspaper's building, leading to a consolidation with the Lexington Advertiser. As a result, the newspaper was briefly known as the Times-Advertiser before reverting to the Lexington Advertiser name. The Lexington Advertiser continued its publication until 1985 when financial difficulties led to its closure. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1906 of this newspaper. |
