Description | Established in 1883 by Bruce Champ, a Confederate Army veteran and farmer, the Paris Semi-Weekly Bourbon News continued the legacy of the Bourbon News, which originated in Millersburg in 1881. Relocating to Paris, the Bourbon County seat, the paper flourished under Champ's leadership, transitioning to a biweekly publication. Despite competition, it thrived by offering a mix of local and national news, with a particular focus on the Kentucky horse industry and tobacco business. After Bruce Champ's passing in 1892, control shifted to his son Walter Champ and nephew Bruce Miller. In 1895, it resumed as the Bourbon News, marking the start of a new chapter. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1883 of this newspaper. |
