Description | Established in 1879, the Crittenden Press of Marion, Kentucky, is the town's oldest continually operating business, with a Democratic leaning. Editor R.C. Walker and son Walter Walker managed the paper, covering local and national news. Under S.M. Jenkins, the paper survived a fire in 1905 and underwent title changes, becoming the Crittenden Record=Press briefly in 1907. Under N.E. Calmes in 1909, it became the Twice-A-Week Record-Press for two months before reverting to Crittenden Record-Press. Jenkins resumed editorial duties until William F. Hogard's acquisition in 1919, restoring the name Crittenden Press. Owned by the Mick family since 1960, it continues weekly publication. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1909 of this newspaper. |
