Description | The Harper’s Ferry Sentinel, founded by editor David Gosorn in 1887, upheld a diverse range of content every Saturday morning, catering to various interests from literature to local news. Initially Republican, it transitioned to an “Independent-Republican” stance under Gosorn's leadership. William L. Erwin succeeded Gosorn, briefly changing the publication schedule before being replaced by Jacob Rohr Grove. Grove faced political accusations but remained loyal to the Republican Party and the Sentinel until its closure in 1902. Grove's departure marked the end of the paper's legacy in Harper’s Ferry and Pennsylvania. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1887 of this newspaper. |
