Description | The Evening Call, a newspaper based in Topeka, Kansas, was active from 1891 to 1893. While its publication period was relatively short-lived, it made significant contributions to African American journalism. Some of its issues have been preserved through microfilming, forming part of the Miscellaneous Negro newspapers microfilm collection. This collection, sponsored by the Committee on Negro Studies of the American Council of Learned Societies in 1947, aimed to preserve African American newspapers from the 19th and 20th centuries. The inclusion of The Evening Call in this collection underscores its importance in representing African American voices and experiences during its brief existence. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1893 of this newspaper. |
