Description | The Museum of Delaware, founded by Joseph Jones in 1804, served as a "political, literary and miscellaneous" weekly in Wilmington. It featured reprinted articles, poetry, and notices of local interest, including runaway apprentices and slaves, as well as sales and rewards. Ceasing publication in 1806, it resumed as the Museum of Delaware and General Advertiser in 1807, still under Jones's helm. The paper covered a range of topics, including patents, runaways, and local events. Renamed the Delaware Gazette in 1809, it adopted an anti-Federalist stance under Jones's editorial direction until its closure in 1810. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1804 of this newspaper. |
