Description | The Ocaleean Ensign, launched in 1917, was a bi-weekly publication by students of Ocala High School. Led by Miss Anna Belle Wesson and later Miss Rozelle Watson, it covered current events, music, home economics, and school news. Sections dedicated to sports highlighted the success of the "Wildcats" girls' basketball team. The paper also featured local news from Ocala and updates on World War I, honoring alumni in service. Associated with the Ocala Evening Star, the Ensign enjoyed editorial support and encouraged readership from the community. NDLI hosts contents from/of year 1918 of this newspaper. |
