Abstract | With increase in age, there are changes in skeletal structure, muscle mass, and body fat. For recognizing faces with age variations, researchers have generally focused on skeletal structure and muscle mass. However, the e ffect of change in body fat has not been studied with respect to face recognition. In this research, we incorporate weight information to improve the performance of face recognition with age variations. We propose two algorithms that incorporate weight variations to improve identi cation results. One is a gabor features based neural network approach, and the other is a deep-learning based approach which incorporates weight variations as a regularizer term. Due to the lack of an existing database which incorporates both age and weight variations, all results are reported on the WhoIsIt database prepared by the authors containing 2036 images from 200 individuals with age and weight variations. |
