Abstract | Microfloras rich in individuals but poor in species have been separated from marine Frasnian sediments in a borehole near Carnarvon, WesternAustralia. These are the oldest assemblages ofisolated spores yet recorded from the SouthernHemisphere. Eight species of microspores havebeen described, three of which are considered to be new. A new genus, Geminospora Balme, has beenproposed.Comparisons may be drawn between these microfloras and Devonian assemblages from other parts of the world. |
