Abstract | Megaspores found in boring IJsselmonde, I, theNetherlands, have been compared with the sporecontent of some other borings in the Netherlandsand of boring Kingscleke, Great Britain, which areWealden in age. Convincingly it could be provedthat the samples studied from boring IJsselmondemust belong to the Wealden. Some new specimenswere noticed, of which Triletes gryensis has beenfound by Dr. Gry in the Lower Wealden from Bornholm, Denmark, by which fact the age ofboring IJsselmonde, I, may belong to the LowerWealden. Moreover, a number of non-calcifiedCharophyte fruits have been found in that boring. Some new records of borings in Belgium, theNetherlands and Egypt have been mentioned. Themost interesting result may be that Pyrobolosporalobata does not only occur in the Senonian, but also in the Palaeocene, whereas its horizontal spreading is also very wide (from W. Europe to Egypt). Finally, this spore is closely related, probably identical with Rodeites dakshini from India. |
