Reference Frames and Principle of Relativity

Description | A reference frame is a region of space (usually three dimensional) in which an experiment is conducted and measurements are made. There are two types of references frames. Inertial reference frames are those reference frames that are either stationary or are moving with a constant velocity. On the other hand, non-inertial reference frames are reference frames that are accelerating, either linearly or by rotating. The principle of relativity, as discussed by Newton and Galileo, states that all the basic laws of physics (Laws of Motion, Universal Law of Gravitation, etc) hold in all inertial reference frames. |
