Description This page contains a short story called "Abstraction", penned by Satyajit Ray, at the age of 20, in his Shantiniketan days. Ray never translated this story in Bengali. A couple of years after Ray's death, his wife, Smt Bijaya Ray translated this story and the Bengali version was published in the Durga Puja Special edition of popular literary magazine "Desh" in the year 1995. The Bengali version is also a part of the collection of Ray's short stories called "Galpo 101". This newspaper features the original English story written by Ray himself. His name is mentioned as "S. Ray" in the print.
