| Description | Against a background shrouded in darkness, a party of five ladies is busy paying tribute to a Shivaite god, whose small temple is lit by oil lamps; to the right of the temple sits a hermit with a book on her lap and between the trees lit from below to the left and right of the scene looms the radiantly illuminated vision of Krishna; the boat with which the ladies came is just visible under the tree on the left and a palace can be seen in the background on the right. The scene is framed by a very thin rim of gold set in red lines; on the back is a double frame of red and black framing lines filled in with gold. |
