Description | The Rasikapriya passage illustrated shows Radha arrogantly rejecting her lover, Krishna, who kneels in humility at her feet. Radha’s friend tries to intercede on Krishna’s behalf, and when Radha tells her to cease her chatter, she replies: “How long can you maintain your pride? Embrace him.” This early Malwa work sets the figures against a red background showing a simplified palace and thundercloud outlined in white, which is repeated in other pages from this section of the Rasikapriya. |
