Description | Louis Napoleon (Napoleon III, 1808-1873) and two accomplices make their escape from the fortress of Ham. Leading the procession is "Doctor Conneau" carrying a suitcase. Behind him is Napoleon disguised as a workman wearing wooden shoes and a smock. He is also toting a pail and shovel. The Napoleonic eagle hovering over his head, carries his umbrella and a circular box. Bringing up the rear is a man in military uniform sporting a mustache. He carries a suitcase labeled "Napoleon III" and a sword. The trio unassumingly walk away from the guarded fortress. |
