Description | Gen. Joseph Jacques Césaire Joffre (1852-1931) points to the Route of 75, named after the front line soldiers who were called '75.' Acommemorative day for the front line soldiers was called 75 Day. The name derived from a special gun for the war designed by the French andcalled the 75 mm field gun. It was a rapidly firing gun which was extremely accurate, and the term 75 referred to the men who manned it. |
