The soldier in the foreground, closest to the camera, has been identified as 2nd Lieutenant Walter Sidlowski. Photographer Walter Rosenblum was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and one of several photographers in the 162nd Signal Photographic Company who participated in the D-Day landings. He confirmed that this photo was taken on "D-Day + 1" (June 7, 1944). |
