Spatial Coverage | Mexico France--Paris |
Description | Broadside contains full-length portrait of General Don Porfirio Díaz, facing left, in military uniform. The text conveys sympathy for Díaz and calls him a hero of the Mexican nation and asks for his return to his country from Paris. On the verso there is a poem titled "To Mr. General Porfirio Díaz in his exile" and a song titled "Ipiranga." After a successful opposition by Francisco I. Madero's forces against the Díaz regime during the Mexican Revolution, Díaz fled Mexico on May 26, 1911, on the German ship Ipiranga. |
