Description | Print shows a celebration of homage to Frederick William IV, King of Prussia, in the plaza before the Crown Prince's palace in Berlin, on October 15th 1840; at this time the King also conferred titles of nobility as part of the celebration. A man, possibly the King, stands at the top of a steep stairway and a man at the bottom of the stairway appears to be addressing him; groups of six men stand at the mid-point on both sides of the stairway. Men in formal dress and uniforms, and one man, with military standard, on horseback fill the plaza and appear focused on the scene on the stairway. Banners representing the House of Hohenzollern hang from flag poles throughout. |
