[Sailors gathered at an entrance overlooking the harbor of a port]

Description | Print shows a view of sailors standing at the entrance to what may be a facility (behind the viewer's vantage point) for sailors when not at sea; beyond the columns at the entrance is a broad avenue where the ground slopes toward the harbor and where there are buildings and presumably the docks of a port. At mid-harbor is a fort extending into the bay, protecting the entrance to the harbor. Sailing ships are at anchor, a side wheeler passes under steam; the tropical foliage suggests a port in the South. |
