NDLI: Both coming and going are steep for the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, which ascends Colorado's famous 14,115-foot Pikes Peak from its base station far below in Manitou Springs. Now owned by the Broadmoor Hotel and Resort in Colorado, the incline has carried passengers up what may be America's most famous mountain since 1891
