NDLI: Stone marker near all that is left of Bent's Trading Post, better known as "Bent's New Fort," in what is now Bent County in southeastern Colorado. It replaced the larger and now far better known Bent's Old Fort, a larger stockade and trading post to the West that had been abandoned in 1849 due to epidemics of disease
