NDLI: The Espada Acequia, or Espada Aqueduct, was built by Franciscan friars in 1731 in what is now San Antonio, Texas. It was built to supply irrigation water to the lands near Mission San Francisco de la Espada, today part of San Antonio Missions National Historical Park
