NDLI: Ickes criticizes housing bill. Washington, D.C. Aug 5. Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes, today told the House Banking and Currency Committee he was in favor of the Wagner-Steagall Housing and Slum Clearance Bill "in principle" at the same time he criticized the plan of having the Housing Act administered by an independent agency instead of a regular government department, 8/5/37
