NDLI: Production. B-17 heavy bomber. Fuselage for B-17F (Flying Fortress) bombers take recognizable form in Boeing's Seattle plant. Wing sections will be mated to the fuselage sections in the next series of operations. The Flying Fortress has performed with great credit in the South Pacific, over Germany and elsewhere. It is a four-engine heavy bomber capable of flying at high altitudes
