NDLI: Production. Tin smelting. A section of the smelting or furnace building of a large Southern plant in which pure tin is extracted from South American ore. At the left is a row of "pot boilers" in which the pure tin is kept at a temperature of about 750 degrees Fahrenheit until it is poured into molds. The plant is the finest of its kind in the world
