Description | Drawing shows a camp of covered wagons and tents on the shore of Eagle Lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. Two men and a woman, lower left, overlook the camp near some grazing cattle. Eagle Lake is located in the mountains in Northern California, at what Jenks considered the summit of the Sierra Nevada. His party arrived here on Sunday, August 14, 1859, although this sketch was completed after he arrived in Yreka. |
