Description | Five panel comic strip shows the Reverend Will B. Dunn attempting to admonish Big Bubba Tadsworth, owner of the mill and most of the county, on his moral responsibilities. He is interrupted by Tadsworth's frivolous (but gorgeous) daughter, Veranda, who insists on demonstrating her latest cheerleader routine. Editorial cartoonist Doug Marlette drew the comic strip Kudzu from 1981 until his death in 2007. Kudzu Dubose is an idealistic and impressionable North Carolina boy, frequently squelched by his friends and relatives. He was named after the Japanese vine imported to provide crop forage and stop erosion that subsequently grew out of control in the warm humid Southeastern states, taking over millions of acres. |
