Description | Cartoon shows Uncle Sam holding the arm of a large man with a globe head (representing the world), standing at a cross road, pointing in the direction of the "Roosevelt Good Neighbor Policy," and saying "Friend, here's the way to peace." The other road has a sign post reading "Suspicion, Fear, Greed, War." President Roosevelt used these words in his 1933 inaugural address, referring to the entire world. The words were later associated more particularly with his policy toward Latin America. |
