Description | Drawing shows Soviet leader Stalin as a handsome man, holding a sheaf of papers reading "Soviet Program," lifting the top of the head of a rather stupid-looking Russian bear to see if the bear's head has room for brains. Cartoon was probably drawn shortly after the end of World War II when the West still believed that Stalin might join with his former Allies to create a free and democratic world. Pease takes a rather patronizing view of the capabilities of the Russian people to rebuild their country after the ravages of the war. |
