Description | Two-panel comic strip shows Paw, accompanied by a tiger, looking in surprise as all the animals flee from the barnyard. Maw says angrily: "I won't have that critter on the farm, Fat-Head! He'll devour all our live stock!!" Paw points to the empty barnyard, saying, "Live stock? What live stock?" Cliff Sterrett first began to draw this gentle strip, featuring Polly, her parents Maw and Paw, and an assorted group of relatives and friends in 1912. Polly's family briefly moved to the country in the 1930s. In this story line, Paw brought home a tiger, which he had found on a walk, convinced that it was a hallucination. Maw and the livestock were not fooled, and it was discovered that the tiger had escaped from the circus. The experience caused Paw to decide to move back to the city. |
