Description | Twelve-panel comic strip shows Polly Truffles and her roommate Gracie as single girls, out of work, and hungry in the big city. They are invited out to dinner by the manager of the local inn, and Polly is invited to sing, but thereby misses her dinner. Gracie consoles her by noting that she has been hired to sing and therefore they will eat from then on. Russell Patterson drew comic strips and mini-series for magazines such as Life, Harper's Bazaar, Redbook and Cosmopolitan. He was credited with popularizing and even creating the flapper. This strip is labeled "Rough sketch only," and may be a prototype for an unpublished strip. |
