Description | Two-panel comic strip shows Beetle betting his friend Killer Diller that he can "get away with wearing one shoe without Sarge noticing." Killer says "It's a bet," but is dismayed when Beetle shows up for inspection with only one shoe, but also smoking a cigar and wearing a hat decorated with four American flags and a long white beard. Walker began drawing Beetle Bailey, a running strip portraying the feckless Beetle and his Army companions at Camp Swampy in 1950. The strip continues to be popular more than 50 years later. |
